Error Messages Explained

A reference of the error messages you may run into across OneCal, what each one means, and how to fix it.

Calendar sync errors

Hover over the Error or Paused status on the Calendar Sync page to see which of these applies and which calendar is affected. The AI assistant can also explain a failed sync and tell you whether re-running it helps.

"OneCal could not find the calendar"

OneCal could not find one of the sync's calendars in the connected account. This usually means the calendar or its account was deleted at the calendar provider. OneCal pauses the calendar sync and emails you. Re-running or un-pausing the sync does not fix this.

If the calendar or the account was deleted, delete the syncs that use this calendar and remove the calendar from OneCal.

If the calendar still exists, follow these steps:

  1. Delete all syncs that use this calendar.
  2. Remove the calendar from OneCal.
  3. Connect the same calendar again.
  4. Re-create the sync.

If the problem persists, contact our support team. See also Manage Your Syncs and Rename, Recolor and Remove Calendars.

"OneCal no longer has permission to access"

The connected account lost write access to one of the sync's calendars, for example because a shared calendar was changed to view only. OneCal pauses the calendar sync and emails you. Restore the permission at the calendar provider and un-pause the sync, or use Edit Calendars in the sync's menu to pick another calendar, which resumes the sync.

"The account is not available for calendar sync"

The calendar account behind one of the sync's calendars cannot be used for calendars right now. Common causes are a Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 administrator blocking OneCal, the Calendar service being disabled for the account, or an inactive, full or on-premises mailbox. OneCal pauses the calendar sync and emails you. Ask your administrator to allow OneCal and un-pause the sync, or use Edit Calendars in the sync's menu to pick a calendar from another account, which resumes the sync.

"Rejected OneCal's sign-in once"

The calendar provider refused OneCal's credentials for one run and the sync was not paused. This is usually a one-off. Re-run the sync. If it keeps failing, refresh the calendar connection. See Fix an Expired Calendar Connection. When a connection has really expired, OneCal pauses the sync, emails you, and the calendar shows an Expired tag instead.

"Temporarily limiting requests" and "temporarily unavailable"

The calendar provider throttled OneCal or returned a server error. These errors clear on their own. Re-run the sync after a few minutes. If the same error keeps coming back, contact our support team.

"Reset its change tracking"

The calendar provider discarded the token OneCal uses to detect changes. This is not a real failure. The next run is a full sync and repairs it. Re-run the sync to fix it right away.

"Reported a conflict" and "rejected a request"

The calendar provider refused a single write, usually because the same event was saved twice at the same time, or because an event could not be converted for the destination calendar. Re-run the sync. If it keeps failing, contact our support team with the name of the sync.

"An error occurred while syncing"

The failure could not be classified. Re-run the sync. If it keeps failing, contact our support team with the name of the sync.

"Calendar Pair Already in Sync"

You selected a calendar pair that another calendar sync already syncs in the same direction. Proceeding can create multiple clone events for the same original event. Change the selection, or delete the other calendar sync first. See the callout on the Calendar Sync intro.

Calendar connection errors

"Connection not complete"

A permission checkbox was not selected during the Google or Microsoft consent screen. Refresh the calendar connection with Refresh connection on the calendar card, and select every permission when prompted. See I Can't Connect My Calendar.

"This account has already been used in a free trial"

The calendar account was already used to start a free trial on another OneCal account. Contact our support team if you need the calendar account moved to your current team.

"This account is already registered by a different user"

The calendar account is already connected to a different OneCal account. Disconnect the calendar account from that OneCal account first, or contact our support team if you don't have access to it.

"Invalid Apple email or app-specific password"

Use an app-specific password created for OneCal, not your Apple account password. See Create an Apple ID app-specific password.

"Read-only calendars cannot be selected as targets"

You have view-only access to this calendar, so OneCal cannot create events on it. Read-only calendars can be used as sources of a calendar sync, and to read availability, but not as targets of a calendar sync or as the booking calendar of a booking link.

You are trying to remove a calendar that other parts of OneCal still depend on. Before the calendar can be removed, update or delete every calendar sync that uses it, and every booking link that adds events to it or reads availability from it, including the booking links listed on your booking page. See Rename, Recolor and Remove Calendars.

Booking errors

The booking link was deleted, its URL changed, or all booking links were disabled because your team's free trial or subscription expired. See Schedulers Can't Book Time With You.

"This time slot is no longer available"

The slot was taken or became unavailable between the moment the page loaded and the moment the scheduler confirmed. The scheduler can simply pick another time.

Private booking links can have an expiry date or a maximum number of uses. Generate a new private booking link and share it again. See Private Booking Links.

Sign-in errors

The magic link was already used or expired. Request a new one. See I Can't Sign In.

"Too many sign-in attempts"

Too many sign-in requests in a short time. Wait a few minutes and use the most recent email.

The email address already has a OneCal account that uses a different sign-in method. Sign in with the original method, then add more login methods from Settings. See Login Methods.
