I Deleted an Event but Its Clone Is Still There

When you delete an original event, OneCal removes its clone events from the target calendars, usually within seconds. If a clone event stays behind, walk through these checks.

Check the sync status

Open the Calendar Sync page:

  • Paused: A paused calendar sync does not process changes, so its clone events stay as they are. Un-pause the calendar sync, and it re-runs automatically to catch up. See Manage Your Syncs.
  • Error: The last run failed. Click Re-run Sync in the calendar sync's three dots menu.

Check the Last Detected Change

If the Last Detected Change of the calendar sync is much older than your deletion, OneCal may not have detected the deletion. Occasionally a change on Google or Outlook goes undetected, more often when someone else made the change. Click Re-run Sync in the calendar sync's three dots menu, which goes through all the events again and removes stale clone events.

Make sure you deleted the original, not another copy

If the same event exists on several calendars as separate original events, for example because it was manually copied before you started using OneCal, deleting one copy does not remove the other copies or their clone events. See I See Duplicate Events.

Still stuck?

Click Re-run Sync in the calendar sync's three dots menu once more. If the clone event is still there, contact our support team with the calendar sync name and the event's date and time.
